Spring forward into clarity with Ahimsa
It all begins with body and mind. Our subconscious picks up on a million bytes of information moment by moment. Our body is the ultimate conduit for channeling particles and waves as it is in a constant state of receiving and giving frequency and energy. What you think you become and if you look around you can see how everyone is creating their own reality. This is the ultimate truth. We are all creators of our own inner personal Universe. Ahimsa is the inner personal practice of observing our internal dialogue and our internal truth of reality.
Ahimsa translated into English means non-violence. When we can shift our awareness from aggression, competitiveness, guilt or shame into compassion, connection, understanding and empowerment we change the construct or our reality. What you focus on, you attract. What you declare your truth becomes true. Our body-mind receives information and gives us a synopsis of what you have deemed the most appropriate and predictable based on what you have chosen to consistently focus on.
Another way of saying this is, what you consistently repeat in your head and feel in your body radiates out a certain frequency that attracts experiences that solidify the way you think. Your reality is a habitual practice of repeated thoughts, feelings and actions. Ahimsa offers you the chance to observe the incessant movement of your mind and then redirect it toward a better serving program.
Wouldn’t you agree that now is a great time to notice how you think? Now, more than ever, you should care about your Holistic health. Which includes the chatter in your mind. You have everything to lose; the judgment, the shame, the guilt, the fear and everything to gain, your freedom, your truth, your purpose.
The ability to create your inner world comes from what you choose to feed your mind. If you are constantly gobbling up junk then the noise in your mind will produce more junk. However, if you’re focusing on self empowerment and inner truth then your results will bring you clarity. With greater intention and education you will get better results. When we practice Ahimsa with the intention of shifting our focus into what serves us and feels good then we are training our body-mind to create more experiences that align to our inner power and truth.
This is why meditation is so important, you are going into your temple to deep clean your mind. I created a free meditation exercise you can do at home to get you started with practicing Ahimsa in your mind.
Here are a few ways you can get ahead of yourself and start springing forward into clarity.
Dedicate sacred space to sitting still. Your body has discovered value and purpose within movement and rhythm. It feels the most alive when stimulated through the senses and usually resists the urge to sit still longer than five minutes. I challenge you to set a timer for seven minutes and eleven seconds and observe the fluctuations of your body-mind. I say body-mind with purpose as you have conditioned your body so well throughout your life that it has systematically become your subconscious mind. Your body will speak to you through urges of needing to get water, scratching your nose, irritations, and frustrations. Give yourself the sacred space needed to explore your physical temple.
Throughout the seven minute and eleven second meditation the aim will be centering your breath and awareness (as many times as you need and can remember) back to your heart. Your heart will become your anchor of observation. When we remember to come back to our heart, again and again, we can remind ourselves of our humanity. Your heart has its own natural rhythm and pace, this is your sacred space to sense how you feel. When we enter a realm of sensing, we drop out of the mind and into our energy.
How much love and compassion can you gift yourself during this meditation? If it helps you can draw a stick figure (if you’re an artist - make it your own) meditating on a piece of paper or if you’re into journaling, in your journal. This figure will represent you and then around the meditating figure draw a symbol that represents unconditional love to you. An idea could be a heart, with the yin and yang symbol inside on top of a feather to represent balanced love and light. Make it big enough to encompass your meditating self because unconditional love is all around you and moves to you and through you! (:
Every time you come back to your breath and your heart, bring this symbol into your mind's eye and FEEL the unconditional love permeating throughout your body and the space around you. You can imagine the symbol taking life and breathing with you. Imagine it illuminating the space within you and all around you. The symbol will shine light and love on your mind, your heart, your body and strengthen your connection to your soul.
Once your alarm goes off, take a moment to send a blessing outward, imagine the symbol growing larger and expanding to your family, your friends, your acquaintances, strangers, the whole world and onward.
Settle back into your space and ground back into your body. Throughout the day, after your meditation, whenever you catch yourself feeling a dense thought or emotion about yourself or another, come back to your breath, heart, and symbol of unconditional love. You can blanket yourself with your chosen symbol and connect to the field of unconditional love or send it outward to someone who may be triggering you. In difficult situations, trust yourself and intuition, give yourself blessings and remind yourself that you are always safe, protected and guided. A major key of Ahimsa is setting boundaries and learning when to walk away from toxic situations.
We live in a fast modern reality. Where we are constantly bombarded by stimulus and chaos. When we start any spiritual or energetic practice the noise may get louder and things might get harder but that’s because you are finally bringing a lot of shadows into the light. In some cases, when we choose to consciously release toxins from our mind, body or energetic field they show up LOUD and BIG. They finally get a chance to be seen and acknowledged. This doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong or regressing, it means you are working through the energy and finally clearing it from your field. Remember to breathe and also set boundaries with people, places, and even yourself. Even though you’re practicing Ahimsa, it doesn't mean the world around you is. However, you can grow your awareness and navigate around the mayhem others are creating for themselves with love, compassion and an understanding they are on their own journey. There is no need for you to intervene, interfere, or fear.
This is a process. We can take breaks from our spiritual practice and come back. You are always exactly where you need to be. You will learn to trust your flow more and more. I promise you, you’ll tune into the unconditional love of your own dance. Our body’s are divine instruments that have an intelligence of their own. If you’re not familiar with this practice, take your time, you won’t be able to knock down your life walls in one meditation. However, you can pivot your energy and create new pathways or portals around those imaginary walls, with consistency and trust. Sending you so much love wherever you are on your journey home.
